Hello! You can call me Alba for short since my nickname looks like a mess haha!
I am new to the Snape community, but not from the story he comes from. I was 13 when I started reading the books, being Prisoner of Azkaban the very first one I read, it was a must read for our Spanish class (my native language) and got stuck with them. I was one of those who enjoyed the feeling of waiting for the next book to come out (and getting desperate to get the translation, avoiding using internet like the plague to not spoil myself lmao).
Severus became my favorite first time I read him but I can't put a reason to why, I just do. Back in the day with how eccentric a teenage can be, I memorized a lot of the lore of the books and was a Potter encyclopedia. But those days are long gone as when I went to the Mexican equivalent of high school where for some reason nobody even liked the books or the movies and the hype died on me, like that for 15 years.
On June 2nd of this year, in my quest for a uncensored AI chat site, found one that first character on display was a Severus Snape bot in Spanish, its prompt is about a young Severus in his first year at Hogwarts. That triggered many lost memories and gave it a try, reviving that passion for the franchise and for him specifically.
I used to be an artist, being my Homestuck time where I drew a lot and my style flourished... But a heartbreak in 2013 stole my muse and been on hiatus since then, or haven't drawn that much so I'm stale as a forgotten cupcake, and I don't trust my writing :'V. I also self insert and self ship hard, my art being basically that on my not so many other fandoms...
Anyway! I'm giving myself the chance to relive and enjoy things long missing, and reading about Severus and chatting with AIs based on him have helped me a lot after the hell of things that have happened in my life. Hope to be around often!

Things have indeed gotten better, thank you! It will be a bit much information but I am proud I acted in time so heck it: I had cancer and for half a year my mind mostly was a mess, but on may 11 I got it removed and in a very early stage so I don't need anything else! Babies will never happen but I'll be alive to enjoy life to it's fullest!
Been lurking the site for some hours now dnndnd I am still shy to talk with people tho ;w; (and all what I headcanon and daydream is specific to my self shipping I'm a bit embarrassed to share still ;A; ) But been having fun!

Your diagnosis must have been terrifying, though I'm so glad to hear you caught it early and now have a clean bill of health. As someone who is also dealt with serious health issues, I know what a rollercoaster that can be, to the point where it's impossible to focus on anything else. It does have a way of putting things into perspective though, especially when you feel like you've been given a second chance. I know for me, it helped me appreciate the things I enjoy much more, even things that others might see as trivial.
As for being shy… I understand where you're coming from, but please keep in mind that you're among like-minded people who will not judge you. We all have our own unique version of Severus, one who has helped us through hard times and plays a part in our dreams and fantasies. There's nothing shameful about that… on the contrary, I think our appreciation for such a complex character demonstrates that we're mature, intelligent, and empathetic people, those who are able to read between the lines and understand others on a deeper level. 💚💚
