Poll: Alternate Hogwarts House for Severus Snape.

Alternate House for Severus Snape
Gryffindor
Hufflepuff
Ravenclaw

We know that Severus Snape could fit into all four houses because he carried traits of other houses alongside Slytherin traits.

In canon, he was a proud Slytherin (like me). Suppose, Professor Snape gets sorted into another house, which one do you think he gets sorted into?

He can't remain in Slytherin and can't get resorted there.

I voted for Ravenclaw, though the idea of him getting sorted into Hufflepuff is hilarious. 😂

Apparantly I am the only one who voted for Gryffindor. 😹

I believe Snape showed more Gryffindor traits than the others as an adult Professor Snape. Even Harry's admiration of him was rooted in Snape's bravery.

I can understand where Ravenclaw came from, I believe a child or teenage Snape could've fit in Ravenclaw because he valued brain over brawn and showed creativity.

I identify Professor Snape as a Gryffindor because he lived by those traits as an adult, a brave and self-sacrificing man who risked his life everyday for the greater good. This conversation confirms my thoughts.

‘Does he?’ said Dumbledore softly, as Fleur Delacour and Roger Davies came giggling in from the grounds.

‘And are you tempted to join him?’

‘No,’ said Snape, his black eyes on Fleur and Roger’s retreating figures. ‘I am not such a coward.’

‘No,’ agreed Dumbledore. ‘You are a braver man by far than Igor Karkaroff. You know, I sometimes think we Sort too soon …’

He walked away, leaving Snape looking stricken …

This was compliment of the highest order when Albus Dumbledore, poster face of Gryffindors and former Head of Gryffindor thought Snape could've been a Gryffindor.

As a child, I would go with Ravenclaw, which is what I voted for. But after everything he's been through, I honestly believe he would be a Hatstall due to the traits he has from all four Houses. He's as brave as a Gryffindor, loyal and hard-working as a Hufflepuff, intelligent as a Ravenclaw, and cunning as a Slytherin. The only reason I don't think he would be in Gryffindor would be due to the bad blood he has with the House; barring that, I think Gryffindor is the most likely for an adult Snape.

I think even Snape would be disturbed if he got sorted into Gryffindor. 😹😹

Still better than Hufflepuff in his opinion. 😼

I've seen 2 oneshots with near-identical premises that places Severus into Hufflepuff. Basically, on the train ride, Lily realizes that Slytherin might not be the best house for her that Severus claimed it to be and confronts him about it. Turns out Snape was aware of this, but was terrified of disappointing his mother or ending up in a house different from Lily. She convinces him that Eileen would likely be happy as long as Severus was, and they agree to remain in the same house no matter what. This strong bond of friendship and loyalty to each other is enough for the Hat to place them both in Hufflepuff. Snape is horrified, but ultimately ends up better off for it.

That being said, with canon characterizations, I do think Ravenclaw is the most likely alternative house for Snape, which is what I voted for.

It might be my Ravenclaw bias but I I've always seen Severus as an honorary Ravenclaw.
