I don't think Snape would care for tearing apart her family, he would keep his distance due to James. Imagine struggling to keep contact with your ex best friend and tolerating his worst enemy, it would be uncomfortable and unbearable to Snape. On James apologising, personally I can't see it happening, most he would give a begrudging thanks and that's it. James won't admit he did anything wrong to Snape. And even if James miraculously apologised, Snape is not obligated to forgive him, Snape might even throw that half-hearted apology to James face saying it wasn't for you, Potter. 😼
Best outcome for Snape would be to just let Lily go completely and start living his own life, move on from her completely even that shoddy patched up friendship they get after his supposedly killing Voldemort. Plus if Lily's relationship falls apart, that's a bonus. 😼
I was elaborating on Bol_Stark's idea, otherwise I also prefer it when Lily and Severus mutually let go of each other.

I may sound cruel, but I frankly hate her, she ranks next to marauders on my HP character hate list.
I have read my lion share of Snily since coming to this site, thanks to my co-workers writing those works. While I like their works, my preferred ship for Snape has always been OC because I don't believe a canon character suits Snape and he requires someone custom made for him by awesome writers of my favourite SnOC fics.
I usually don't like OCs and I generally dont like romance- centered fics. I do like it when Snape is paired with a female Harriet though thanks to laventadorn's "The Neverending Road" and Eira's "Certain Dark Things". There are also some fics that ship him with Hermione as an adult but I'm very picky there. For some reason authors seem to think that it is a good idea to have Snape rape a students in order not to compromise his cover as a Death Eater and then said student falls in love him two chapters later.... what even is wrong with these people?
I personally prefer it when the romance ensues once the girls are adults.
I do want to add that I, under no circumstances, support or condone relationships between a teacher and student in real life. Fanfics are works of fantasy and for pure fun, and mostly meant to be self-indulgent.

I almost don't read Student-teacher relationship fics, even Snamione ones I read are usually time travel fics, my favourite Snamione has Hermione travelling to another dimension with Harry and Professor Snape and finding love with alternate Snape of same age as her.
I can recommend you awesome SnOC fics and guarantee you they focus in plot, character development and great experience that you may want to keep reading more.

Absolutely! It's why I only read/write Severus x OC. It ticks all the right boxes for me (and I'm a bit biased here because I only really like my own OTP lol). I'm limited in my ships and who I like, but I am absolutely okay with that.
There is my what if scenario: What if Severus Snape didn't hear prophecy?
Basically Snape happened to miss spying on Dumbledore-Trelawney conversation, thus missed out in hearing half heard prophecy. How this change will effect Snape's destiny?

Then the entire Potter family would be doomed, and Voldemort lives and his reign continues.
My reasoning is this - Voldemort asked Severus to spy on the interview because he wanted him to obtain a teaching position to spy there.
So for Severus himself not to be there, perhaps Voldemort asked another Death Eater in his place.
So I imagine this new DE would be the eavesdropper, and since Severus would not be privy to the Prophecy, he may not have been privy to Voldemort's conclusion of it. Therefore, Severus has absolutely no idea that the Potters would be targeted, and the eavesdropper has no personal connection with them.
Since Severus is not informed, he is unable to plea for Lily's life.
Lily, James, and Harry die, and Voldemort lives.
With Lily's death, Severus would be absolutely distraught, still. But perhaps with a different kind of guilt that he was unable to protect her. But I think the guilt will be less here, and he will not bear the weight of her death directly on his own conscious because he would not have a hand in it this time. (I mean to say, he'll still blame himself to some degree, just not as badly as he did in canon)
I doubt he'll ever approach Dumbledore (I can't find a reason for it), so I assume Severus' loyalty to Voldemort would still change. I like to think he might still work on the inside, in his bid to try and bring him down, because I don't see him wanting to work with a tyrant who killed the only other person that he loved.
But since Harry is dead, he has no obligation to Hogwarts, that is unless Dumbledore sees his potential and hires him there as protection anyway.
But...Basically a very dark dystopian world.
