Hyenas, by and large, have a pretty nasty reputation (not unlike Slytherins, really). Many associate the species with scavenging, gluttony, uncleanliness, and cowardice, and popular films like The Lion King havenât exactly challenged this depiction. Another interesting piece of symbolism given to hyenas, however, is the melding of masculine and feminine. In ancient times hyenas were mistakenly thought to be hermaphrodites â in Ovidâs Metamorphosis, hyenas are even depicted as being able to transform from male to female and back again. Some of this is due to biology, as female spotted hyenas have an enlarged clitoris that ancient scholars mistook for a small penis, but some of this may also be due to the fact that hyena packs are led by females, not males, which wouldâve contradicted the so-called ânormalâ gender roles exhibited by humans and many other animals.
Having a Hyena as your Patronus means that you find comfort in nonconformity. You are not someone who does something just because âthatâs how itâs always been.â Slytherins already tend to have a certain disregard for the rules, but you take that disregard and run with it. No one tells you what you should or shouldnât do, and if anyone tries, well, their griping will fall on deaf ears. You are the sort to both join a dojo and take a cooking class â to wear leather and lace â to punch your worst enemy in the face with one hand and help another person to his feet with the other. You are both strong and weak â gentle and ruthless â cool as a cucumber and hot as a tamale. Should you ever find yourself cornered and shut away, forced to hide yourself from the world, your guardian will burst from your wand with a large barking laugh, for it is completely unafraid of fences or wagging fingers. The brown hare patronus forms for those who tend to be shy and somewhat skittish. They are very to themselves and are known for being quite and reserved. Whatâs surprising about these witches and wizards is that when pushed to the breaking point they can handle themselves very well. With their quick wit and knowledge they can hold their own in a duel, however, they prefer avoiding conflict rather than running straight into it.
A person who casts the brown hare is often unaware of their power. They prefer to keep to themselves and often need time to allow a friendship to form. This is mainly because they need to gain confidence in themselves before opening up to anther person. Even so, they are incredibly kind individuals and will often put a friends well being before their own. They are known to close themselves off to their loved ones in order to immerse themselves deep into books or other activities and need to be made aware of their slight obsessions. They are known to have many talents and take on many project to keep themselves busy. Due to the fact that they have so many interests there is always knew and surprising things to learn about these individuals.

Cats in general symbolize independence, curiosity, and patience. The Nebelung specifically is a very rare breed. Its name is thought to have some origins both in the German word ânebelâ (meaning âfogâ) and in reference to the epic German poem the Nibelungenlied. Nebulungs have a passing resemblance to Russian Blue cats and are even sometimes called âLonghaired Russian Bluesâ â however, Nebelungs are a little less distrustful than Russian Blues, being a lively, playful breed by reputation. Still, they do stay close to their families, can be picky in their food and litter cleanliness, and generally prefer routine and stability.
Having a Nebelung cat as your Patronus means you find comfort in patience. You are a very stable person, grounded in who you are and what you will and wonât do. Like many Slytherins, you follow your own code and you are individualistic to the extent that you donât need anyone else to tell you how to live your life. The nice thing is, however, that you donât see the need to be vocally rebellious in order to rebel â you are quiet and resilient in your approach, dismantling expectations and boundaries keeping you from your goals with slow, steady precision. Mine (self-selected) is a Florida panther. I'm choosing it due to my deep affinity with my home state, my nocturnal, often reclusive behavior, my history of surviving against the odds, and numerous other factors.

Meaning of the Doe - As the Patronus of Severus Snape and Lily Potter, the doe is fiercely protective of its loved ones, as displayed through its caring and nurturing nature.

The Dragon Patronus represents someone who is fearless, assertive and accepting of any challenge thrown at them. As natural leaders, Dragons will hold steadfast in their convictions and will fight wholeheartedly for what they believe in.
Patronus: Dolphin
A combination of inner intelligence and an energetic sense of playfulness, those who possess a Dolphin patronus are lovable, active, and adaptable. At their best, witches and wizards with this patronus are curious tinkerers by day and everyoneâs favorite drinking buddy by night. At their worst, Dolphins allow themselves to become nervous, confused, and overwhelmed in their work and become obnoxious pranksters to their friends.
Balance is a difficult act for the Dolphin. They have all the potential in the world to be great when they are focused, but too often second-guess their own natural intelligence and their world ends up crashing down around them. Simultaneously, Dolphins that become too focused on work end up burned out and resentful, while those who become too focused on play end up acting out in immature ways. Thus is the life challenge of the Dolphin. Since they often have big ideas, their life goal is to reach their goals while balancing out any stresses with their fun, social side.
The good news is that Dolphins have lots of energy and are adaptable to changes around them. When they feel confident, there is little that they cannot achieve. As long as they stay interested, they can chase any dream. The only problem is that they have a hard time staying interested in one thing for too long. Thatâs why Dolphins often have many projects going at once. That way when they get bored with one they can move onto another.
Dolphins are capable of doing so many different jobs that their biggest challenge in their career is choosing one that fits them. Again, this is an issue of balance. If someone who possesses this patronus chooses a career that is very intellectually driven, they will need to spend a lot of social time outside of work to balance out their inner needs. Similarly, if they choose a fun and fascinating career, they will likely have more intellectually driven hobbies, such as volunteering for political affairs or joining the Board of Directors for a local charity.

Hippogriffs are magical creatures that are part griffin, part horse â a union that is very rare and special, since the relationship between the two should be predator and prey. It therefore represents true love and the impossible coming true.
Having a Hippogriff as your Patronus means you find comfort in defying the odds. You are a risk-taker â unusual in the house of Slytherin â but that means you are fearless when it comes to chasing your dreams. Nothing satisfies you more than someone telling you that somethingâs impossible only for you to prove them wrong. You are someone who romanticizes underdog stories where little Davids overthrow deadly Goliaths. Therefore, like in a true underdog story, your guardian will appear at the last possible moment to protect and save you, before you two come together to fight back against the sweeping despair bearing down on you.

Hippogriffs (or Hippogryph) are legendary creatures that posses the appearance with a head of an eagle and a body of a horse. Despite its size, they have a small appetite that includes small animals like ferrets, birds and insects. In some traditions, Hippogriffs are shown to represent or symbolise love and loyalty. When approaching this creature there are etriquettes that needs to be followed, since they represent loyalty it is wise to show loyalty back to it by bowing and wait for them to bow back. They are very easily offended creatures, so if you arenât polite to them you get a free trip to the hospital wing. Hippogriffs are very loyal creautures and protect anyone they love or those who have earned its trust.
Having a Hippogriff as a patronus shows that a person is well-mannered, might be sensitive to emotions or behaviour, and are very loyal to the point they will attack anyone who messes with their friends or loved ones. You also may not even hold grudges against your enemy and befriend them if shown respect towards you.

When it comes to the Thestral Patronusâs meaning, it is generally associated with death and considered a bad omen since only the wizards who have witnessed death and accepted the concept of death can see this creature.
Here are some characteristics of people with Thestral Patronus:
- They are realistic, empathic, and can be pushed to something bigger, leading them to be deeply powerful people.
- They are gentle at heart and kind to people around them.
- They are not scared of death and see deaths as a part of the process of further life.
- They are often misunderstood by others, considered weird by their fellows, and are kind of loner.
- They have unique and unusual personalities, e.g., Luna Lovegood.
- They didnât see Thestral as dark creatures, but it is instead considered very powerful.
- They are deeply philosophical and intelligent.
