Poll: Who was most similar to Snape?
Which character do you think was most similar to Severus Snape? Choose one and elaborate.
I have voted for Harry Potter due to sharing many a similarities between them.
- Both had an abusive childhood in a muggle household.
- Both saw Hogwarts as an escape from their homes.
- Both were bullied, Harry by Dudley's gang and Draco's gang and Snape by the Marauders.
- Both had a red haired best friend who meant to them more than anything. Harry always seeked Ron whenever he wanted to spend his time and looked lost when Ron abandoned him initially in GOF and in middle of DH.
- Both fancied a red haired popular girl.
- Both were angry and often pushed away friends as seen in OOTP for Harry and Snape for Lily.
- Both had an independent streak and didn't trust the adults and tried to take on everything themselves.
- Both hated the Petunia Dursley.
- Both loved the DADA and passionate about learning and teaching it.
- Both demonstrated selfless bravery in face of challenges.

Wow, this is a hard one! I guess I'd have to say "similar in what way?" – otherwise, it's hard to narrow it down.
Harry Potter – Similar childhoods (before Hogwarts) in the sense that both of them were neglected. Similar in their reverence for Lily, albeit for different reasons.
Hermione Granger – Similar in their love of books, academic interest, and unusual level of talent.
Sirius Black – Both temperamental and fiercely loyal to their loved ones.
Tom Riddle – Similar backgrounds, ambition, and attraction to the Dark Arts. The quality that differentiates Severus is his ability to love – without that, I think he could've gone the same way Tom Riddle did and been every bit as powerful.
Draco Malfoy – Both affected negatively by preconceived notions about Slytherin (both their own and from others), which made them vulnerable in similar ways where Voldemort was concerned.
I didn't include the other two because I don't really see any similarities.

Yes, as recalled here:
"He tried to jinx me, in case you didn't ntice! fumed Harry. "I had enough of that during those Occlumency lessons! Why doesn't he use another guinear pig for a change? What's Dumbledore playing at, letting him teach Defence? Did you hear him talking about the Dark Arts? All that unfixed, indestructible stuff-"

Harry was so disarmed that she had thought his words as well worth memorising as The Standard Book of Spells that he did not argue.

On the basis of this entire book, I would say that Harry Potter is most like Severus Snape.
I was initially in favour of Sirius Black but the points mentioned above have convinced me to vote for Harry Potter.
Potter? How dare you insult me!
