AI Generated Story Plotting, Prompts, and Giveaways

This will run its course me writing AI generated stories. But using AI helps me get rid of the characters and stories in my head. Now I can let go.

This one ended up being longer. It is Fantastic Beast and Harry Potter.

Here are the notes, a short description and link.

There was theory that Queenie was Severus Snape's grandmother. It never went anywhere, but it stayed in my head and others. I even saw a post somewhere asking if there was any fanfiction about it. I haven't found any. Maybe someone knows of one or some. I personally thought of how it would come about, but I never wrote anything down. I finally tried AI and thought it would help write what was in my imagination. So here is a Queenie is Severus Snape's grandma for those who want one. I did a lot of steering with one. It ended up being 10 chapters. I plan on posting all of them as soon as I look over them. I don't catch everything that might be wrong. But oh well.

Yeah, okay, wow, you really got me thinking because up to now I have interpreted Snape's memories in books 5 & 7 as being pretty definitively indicative that his home life was abusive, and that his father was the aggressor/dominant personality, unlikely to let his wife win an argument...In the fanfic "Come Once Again and Love Me,'' for example, I was surprised Eileen was given such a strong and domineering personality...(though, haha, before I yield to the impulse to go on about that, maybe I should ask the moderators if there's already a discussion thread about Snape's parents [sheepish face]).

But now that you've gotten me mulling it over : ), I have to concede that you are totally justified in seeing Snape's parents as essentially loving, but distant Silent Generation types--especially given the historical context...and I find that very interesting to ponder! So thank you for that : )

And thanks for sharing about type.ai. I hadn't heard of that one before, so I looked into it...and my mind is blown. I can definitely see the addictive appeal.. I love to read, but I don't know how to write a good story myself (which leaves me with massive awe and respect for those who do).

Admittedly, I have a real love-hate relationship with AI generated fiction...partly because my parents aren't native English speakers so I felt (and still feel) incredibly insecure and hard on myself about learning to read/write/speak English well--going to competitive schools, college admissions, etc. only adding to that pressure--and so like Snape haha I get disproportionally bent out of shape and angry over bad writing because it feels so high stakes and personal and emotional for me ... even though rationally I know it's ridiculous for me to feel that way and get all worked up inside [embarrassed face]...Anyhow, yeah, so, I've read a few AI-generated fanfic stories that part of me enjoyed because I loved the ideas being explored...but the other part of me is tearing my hair out with frustration (jealousy??) over how AI is incredible at pulling together sentences that have a cadence and tone and word choices that sound astonishingly good, dramatic, emotional--''profound'' even--but only on a very thin surface level. And it makes me want to throw a jar of pickled brains at my computer.

And then the other part of me creeps back and starts rubbing her hands together, ''Yesssss!!! It'll be so fun." [immediately pours self a drink and starts plugging away at type.ai to create the next fanfic scene I want to see].

I do believe that seeing Tobias as "aggressor/dominant personality" is the author's intent, but personally I am not big on author's intent. I think it is up to the reader. It is fiction after all. I do have a hard time with the litany of traumatic things in Severus life. It seems like that list is always growing. If his life was so loveless and the only time he knew love was when he first met Lily, I think he would be a totally different character. It also doesn't make sense to me. But that seems to be the popular interpretation. I also think if Tobias was so against magic, Severus wouldn't have known so much before going to school. Granted some people like to think he left them or died (and that is fine), but I don't. I think Snape's personality shows a lot of Tobias. I also don't think that they were destitute because since Snape lives at Spinner's End when he is old my guess is that they owned the house. Owning a house takes some money. Taxes need to be paid. As for his clothes, I like the interpretation that he was dressing like a wizard. And the shirt he was wearing was an old wizarding shirt like Ron had for the Yule Ball. As for short pants. That was kind of the norm back in the olden days for people who didn't have that much money. It was hard to keep up with growth spurts. Again this is my own interpretation. And there are a couple of threads on Tobias and Eileen. I also think the question is mentioned in the post that asks like 30 questions.

The problem I have with AI, is when someone passes it as if they started from stracts. I am thankful for a lot of technology that helps me. I have dyslexia, so I have the hardest time spelling words or knowing when I need a "d". What I like about type.ai it helps get the stories in my head down. I have written fanfiction the old way and I needed to find a beta reader and britpicker. That wasn't easy if you were not popular. At this time in my life I wouldn't want to do that. I say have fun with AI.

Yes, I agree, the home ownership in particular is difficult to get around if you want to believe Eileen and Tobias were destitute. (Then again, Pettigrew's presence in Book 6 is a reminder that the home ultimately belongs to the Death Eaters, not Snape, and so I'm beginning to form my own theory.)

Admittedly, I have a real love-hate relationship with AI generated fiction...partly because my parents aren't native English speakers so I felt (and still feel) incredibly insecure and hard on myself about learning to read/write/speak English well--going to competitive schools, college admissions, etc. only adding to that pressure--and so like Snape haha I get disproportionally bent out of shape and angry over bad writing because it feels so high stakes and personal and emotional for me ... even though rationally I know it's ridiculous for me to feel that way and get all worked up inside [embarrassed face]...Anyhow, yeah, so, I've read a few AI-generated fanfic stories that part of me enjoyed because I loved the ideas being explored...but the other part of me is tearing my hair out with frustration (jealousy??) over how AI is incredible at pulling together sentences that have a cadence and tone and word choices that sound astonishingly good, dramatic, emotional--''profound'' even--but only on a very thin surface level. And it makes me want to throw a jar of pickled brains at my computer.

And then the other part of me creeps back and starts rubbing her hands together, ''Yesssss!!! It'll be so fun." [immediately pours self a drink and starts plugging away at type.ai to create the next fanfic scene I want to see].

edit: I'm holding a newborn baby as I type this, I promise i'm not actually drinking lol.

I do believe that seeing Tobias as "aggressor/dominant personality" is the author's intent, but personally I am not big on author's intent. I think it is up to the reader. It is fiction after all. I do have a hard time with the litany of traumatic things in Severus life. It seems like that list is always growing. If his life was so loveless and the only time he knew love was when he first met Lily, I think he would be a totally different character. It also doesn't make sense to me. But that seems to be the popular interpretation. I also think if Tobias was so against magic, Severus wouldn't have known so much before going to school. Granted some people like to think he left them or died (and that is fine), but I don't. I think Snape's personality shows a lot of Tobias. I also don't think that they were destitute because since Snape lives at Spinner's End when he is old my guess is that they owned the house. Owning a house takes some money. Taxes need to be paid. As for his clothes, I like the interpretation that he was dressing like a wizard. And the shirt he was wearing was an old wizarding shirt like Ron had for the Yule Ball. As for short pants. That was kind of the norm back in the olden days for people who didn't have that much money. It was hard to keep up with growth spurts. Again this is my own interpretation. And there are a couple of threads on Tobias and Eileen. I also think the question is mentioned in the post that asks like 30 questions.

The problem I have with AI, is when someone passes it as if they started from stracts. I am thankful for a lot of technology that helps me. I have dyslexia, so I have the hardest time spelling words or knowing when I need a "d". What I like about type.ai it helps get the stories in my head down. I have written fanfiction the old way and I needed to find a beta reader and britpicker. That wasn't easy if you were not popular. At this time in my life I wouldn't want to do that. I say have fun with AI.

This fic is based on the 1942 movie Casablanca. I was curious what the AI generator would do. I wondered if it would give an entire story right away if you put a movie and characters, but it doesn't. There is a lot of steering that still needs to be done, which is good. I did change some things and changed the song.
