Fan Pairings

@timeladyjamie, You can get started with Snape/OC fic recs by going to Snape/OC recs. Personally I recommend you the fics in first two posts (they are my favorites). They explore the relationship between SnOC, excellent plots and keep Snape in character i.e loyalty towards Lily, his excellent snark, sarcastic wit and his relationships with others.

Snily- This is what brought me to fanfiction. There wasn’t much when I started and many that were written before Severus and Lily’s friendship became canon. What I like about these two is that there is a lot we don’t know and a lot of back stories we can come up with that can be canon compliant. I also like AU. I feel we are given enough to play with. I personally am not big on the author's intent. I already read one recommendation from this site and plan on reading more.

ss/hg- I didn’t think that I would like this ship. I found it weird at first. I guess I couldn't find many Snily fics at the time I was reading fanfiction. Someone posted that she also had doubts about this ship, but she started reading one and enjoyed it and suggested others give it a try. I did and I liked it and I found out that this ship has a lot of stories and great writers.

The ships I hate.

What others have mentioned, I don’t like the bully/victim dynamic. I hate when it pops up in my feed for fanart of the Marauders and Snape where Snape is drawn with circles under his eyes, hunched over and looking like the prey of one or more of the Marauders. Severus is usually smaller and looks like the children that are under The Ghost of Christmas Present coat called ignorance and want. I find these pictures disturbing. I guess many readers see Severus as an easy target. I don’t.

There are many pairings that I didn’t think that I would enjoy reading or writing, but I remember there was a rare pairing challenged and joined. I think I was given three choices. I picked Harry/Pansy and I actually enjoyed writing  it. I also enjoyed reading Ginny/Lucius. It wasn’t  a bully/victim more like each one trying to "get one over on" until an attraction grows. Kind of like a dark comedy.  I wouldn’t mind reading more with these pairing.

I also like to read Severitus.

About the age gap on some of these characters. I do like when the younger characters are older. Wizards and witches have a longer life span than muggles. So I don't tend to think that the older characters looking so much older than their younger partner. A 20 year age gap is more like 10 and 30 like 15 years. It's fiction. Have fun.

Yeah,Tbh,the reason I dont really like HG/SS because to me,it felt creepy that student and Professor have romantic relationship together. Its like.... ah,i cannot answered it....

But i think if they have romantic relstionship after school and it eas after hermion entering ministry,I dont mind,in fact I liking it. It was like young woman  that have 20 years difference in ages yet they turned out fine. Many case in hollywood actor like that. In fact,I am suprised how much is it become more common

Yeah I am agree that bully and Being bullied become couple is not my cup of tea : james/snape (WTH??) Or Sirius/ Snape (two am hot headed man who hates what they stood for)  So I think I agree with you in this one @iffin

I can understand. I personally don't like to read HG/SS when she is a student. Granted I also don't care for time travel HG/SS. Those are just my own tastes . Many of the ones I have read, Hermione is in her 40s. One of my favorites, which I wish I had saved, is Hermione throughout the years talking to Snape's Headmaster's portrait. She starts out visiting the headmistress, who is McGonagall, when her children are in school and later becomes headmistress herself. Nothing kinky happens between her and the portrait. It is reminiscent of the 1947 movie "The Ghost and Mrs Muir". The thing about this ship is that there is a lot to choose from and many that are well written.

Yeah, when I trying to imagine hermione with severus,my brain intantly reminded of Gakuen Alice Manga that protagonist  Dad and Mum is actually Teacher and high school student. And teacher is actually known her since she was in primary school !! I knew they are loving each other, but it did not settle with me with I am trying reading HG/SS when they are in school. I much prefered time travel Fic or They make their relationship when hermione is 25 years old.
