Did you think the Fantastic Beasts franchise was a worthy addition to the Harry Potter universe, or were you unconvinced? Feel free to add your thoughts in this thread!

Quote from Heatherlly on January 15, 2025, 12:18 pmI think the Fantastic Beasts movies were a blatant cash grab by people/entities who didn't understand the first thing about Harry Potter fans. Other than that, I can't really speak to their merits. Never cared enough to watch them.

Quote from Naaga on January 15, 2025, 9:48 pmI liked the concept of Fantastic Beasts movies, particularly what it was supposed to be in 1st movie, Newt Schmander travelling the world and solving magic beasts related issues. But WB studios got overambitious and tried incorporating Grindelwald and Dumbledore storyline in the movies and the thing we got was a mess.
They should've kept Grindelwald stuff in a separate movie with Dumbledore as a protagonist.

Quote from Arrexu on January 16, 2025, 6:56 pmit could've been pirates of the carribean but on the side of law and instead of pirates you have newt vs poachers. A fun little side gig. They wanted to include grindelwald too much imo.
Like scratch grindelwald and dumbles and have them do their thing seperate from Newt. Boy's just a glorified Zoo keeper. I was a bit interested in the Leta Lestrange bit. It's doomed love for a slytherin all over again.

Yes. I liked the first two movies, but the third one was really all over the place. We didn't see much of the characters from the first two films and it became all about Grindelwald and Dumbledore. My favorite characters were Queenie and Jacob. I also wanted to know more about Credence Barebone, Mare Lou Barebone, Leta Lastrange and especially Nagini.

Quote from luke on June 30, 2026, 9:58 amIt was great addition to harry potter franchise. To me, The character is very unique and very human
Newt which is genius magizoologist yet so humble and awkward
Jacob which is cinnamon roll and loving magical beasts and magical human
Tina goldstein that are very ambitious yet love newt all the same
Queenie goldstein which is broken hearted and join grindelwald so she can be marry the one she loved the most
To me,the character is too much wasted in the movie that they will not appear in franchise
Which will be appear in my fanfic (spoiler!!) Hehehe
For me,the movie goes astray when they decided to included all of the plot of grindelwals. To me they must focused on defeating grindelwald on movie 1-3
