Just a polite apology and retraction of my above comment. I was unaware a new trailer had dropped. I didn't mean to bash the HBO series.
Hehe, that being said...  😉
As an old-school Slytherin who prefers to maintain some semblance of dignity at mealtimes, even when surrounded by obnoxious blathering children, I see no need to cast all propriety and decorum to the wind in favor of resorting to something as plebeian as cafeteria trays. [Wince.] Even a modest, informal repast still calls for the proper traditional English breakfast table settings alluded to in the books.
I just don't see a magical Castle that grants each student an f-ing four poster bed for gods sake and has never expressed an interest in making modern updates before (unless you count the co-ed Prefects Jacuzzi) randomly deciding to downgrade to modern commercial institution-style breakfasts lol.
If Gryffindors like the son of he-who-shall-not-be-named-but-whose-cursed-surname-rhymes-with-Blotter want to parade around the Great Hall with cafeteria trays playing musical chairs at breakfast to socialize like blithering idiots, I will leave them to it. And if young Mr. Potter doesn't have enough sense to use a separate fruit plate and knife for slicing his banana, this doesn't bode well for his performance in Potions.
