Yeah, personality traits do offer you different choices if character play the same scenario.

Like if you play as a Slytherin in Philosopher's Stone like Draco or AU child, you may choose to inform Snape or another teacher over going after Stone while Harry doesn't get this choice for the obvious reason.

I loved your ideas @thegestaltprince and @naaga and would play such games if they are released.

Another idea is a perk system like Skyrim. Each magic discipline has multiple perks and using that magic discipline levels up your skill allowing you to get that higher perks.

Lupin also gets a Werewolf perk tree and if he gives into his werewolf form like Grayback, he gets more wolf like in human form and gets enhanced speed, strength, reflexes and mental resistance at the cost of sanity, negative opinion and shunning from the society (dark Lupin path).

I think each class you attend would be their own disciplines (so twelve standard disciplines in total), with each Hogwarts year acting as a different tier for whatever's learned. Each lesson would be for each skill that the character could use (An Expelliarmus lesson would correlate to the Disarming Charm, and so on), and the potency of the skill would be based on the best grade in the lesson; so, a Troll-level Disarming Charm would only work on weaker NPCs, while Outstanding Disarming Charms would work on just about anyone.

  • I could see using skill points to improve effectiveness or perhaps having some multi-discipline interconnectedness, like using Arithmancy to calculate an improved Potions formula, or using Herbology and Creature Care to appraise ingredients or increase their quality.

Going back to bonuses and penalties, someone like Snape would get a bonus to something like Potions lessons; how this translates is that his performance in Potions would be of a higher grade than the player's input, so if the player only earned an Acceptable for a lesson, Snape's application would push the effectiveness to an Outstanding.

Unique disciplines (Animagus, werewolf, Dark Arts, Mind Arts, etc.) would also be present, but only improved if following specific questlines.

I like keeping unique disciplines separate from usual skills and getting them through specific questlines.

I would also like an option to play OC in Marauders' era, it can be any gender and can either do it's own stuff or interact with other characters to change the dynamics. Like a male OC sorting in Slytherin and befriending Snape, teaming up with him against the marauders and nudging him away from DE.

I thought about OCs, but I thought that it might take focus away from the Marauders, Lily, and Snape. Maybe it could be a DLC that works for whatever time period you want to play in, with bonuses and penalties being unlocked based on performance in canon character gameplay?

Agreed that OCs might take focus away from the characters so bring in OCs through the mods, not the official DLCs. 😹😹

Actually, thinking about it, the 90s era would be the perfect place to include OCs if the player causes an alternate pairing.

Right, it would be fun playing OC child of Snape or other characters.

It would be fun to play OC Snape child. I liked Evan Snape and Ravenclaw Hermione from The Lion, The Snake and The Stone fic and would love to play them and other characters in AU series.
