Hello

I started reading Harry Potter when I saw the books at Costco. I enjoyed them, but just saw them as any other children’s book. As the Harry Potter books got published their readers grew up and went to higher education, where I worked. There were students who read the books and talked about them, so I continued to read them and talk about them. I remember books stores getting ready for the Half-Blood Prince a year before asking the question “Who is the Half-Blood Prince?” I remember thinking it was Snape. I really hadn’t really thought of the books much. I had only read them once. I just knew I liked Snape. When I finished reading the Half-Blood Prince I was thinking “No. It can’t be.” That is when I re-read and listened to the books. I joined fandom online to do some detective work and theorize what would happen next. So fun. After Deathly Hallows I stayed in fandom, wrote some fan fiction (under a different name), joined some exchanges and all that stuff. I have been in and out of fandom since then.

The user name I have comes from a sitcom with a witch. I used to watch reruns when I was a child. If you can guess where it is from, then you might guess I am old. I wonder if I am the oldest person on this site.

Welcome! Great riddle, you got me googling... or cheating with ai 🙂 That show didn't air here, so I was chaneless. You would be my senior, but not by that much. As Naaga said, it's a diverse fandom and many here come across as a far cry from teenagers.

Thanks for solving the riddle. The sitcom originally aired Sept 1964, a few years before I was born. I grew up watching the re-runs.  I was born in the '60s, a young child in the '70s. So when I see Snape's memories I know attitudes were different and I try and see it during that time period with what I know.  Sometimes some fanfiction written in that time period drives me crazy and I can't read it, because the characters are acting like they are in 21st century. There is a big no no in Snape's Worse Memory that I never see discussed. Maybe you have. Snape being rescued by a girl would be a big no no in those days. The only one who could probably get away with it is an older sister. I could see Lily's friends in the background. "Oh no. She isn't."
