Help with my story
Hello!
I'm trying to complete my Snape-centric fanfiction but I might need some help with the canon parts. This has been in my head for too long and I must put it out. My only intention is to finish it all before starting publishing it: I don't want to risk not finishing it and leaving it hanging.
Because of my job I have no time to read again all the books, plus I don't have an English version of them and I'm afraid I could write something wrong, so I might need some help in remembering some canon details.
- Could someone tell me what are the specific words James said in Snape's worst memory?
- Did Harry made Snape a memorial site in Hogwarts?
- Minerva McGonagall was already a teacher during Snape's school years, right? And she didn't help him in any way with the Maradeurs?
- Did Snape ever find out about the Invisibility Cloack? I recall he can somehow "sense" it but I don't remember if he ever had a confirmation of its existence.
Also, I'm desperately looking for a BETA! My English is... erm... interesting, and not that great for reading.

All right, Snivellus?’ said James loudly. James shouted,
‘Expelliarmus!’
‘Impedimenta!’ he said, pointing his wand at Snape, who was knocked off his feet halfway through a dive towards his own fallen wand.
‘How’d the exam go, Snivelly?’ said James.
‘Wash out your mouth,’ said James coldly. ‘Scourgify!’
‘There you go,’ he said, as Snape struggled to his feet. ‘You’re lucky Evans was here, Snivellus –’
‘Apologise to Evans!’ James roared at Snape, his wand pointed threateningly at him.
It is not mentioned that Harry made Snape a memorial site, only that he got Snape's name cleared and got his portrait installed in the Headmaster's office.
Yes, Minerva McGonagall was teacher since before the marauder's era. We don't know of her involvement in the Snape-Marauders dynamic in canon but she held James as one of her favourite students and must have favoured him.
Yes, Snape had knowledge of the cloak. The first scene where he pointed towards the cloak was after the Harry used the cloak for an attack against the Draco in the Hogsmeade in POA and later used the invisibility cloak himself when he sneaked in the Whomping Willow to protect Harry from Sirius in PoA.
I can't help you as beta because English is not my primary language but I wish you luck in finding a beta and writing your story.

Do you mean that there's four chapters, or that there are four multi-chapter parts?
Can you give us a word count? That would be the most accurate way to determine how much work would be involved.

I'm just going off your comments about your struggles with English. I understand wanting a beta to look at this, but really, it would be better if the beta looked at the entirety of your story structure and plot first before worrying about language issues.
It's always best to clean up your manuscript to the highest standard first before sending it to a beta. So might I suggest that you compile a list of questions you have on tricky parts of the English language and ask some of us to answer? Then you can go back and do successive rounds of edits to correct those issues beforehand. This will teach you to highlight your own errors, and give you more confidence. Obviously, you will not catch every error, and other parts will simply be down to style-- but self-correction will be better than a beta pointing out all of these errors and making you feel discouraged, as well as detracting from the overarching story issues.
I personally am not skilled in structural beta reading. But I am pretty good with language, and I know what it's like to write in a foreign language. If you have any key questions about subject-verb agreement, conjunctions, relative pronouns, conjugations, tenses, moods, and so on, then I would be happy to answer.
You might also want to consider posting small samples of your writing in response to a drabble challenge on this site, as you could get quick feedback and use this to help do self-edits on your manuscript.
