Severus Snape is such an ambiguous character. I want to get the record straight in my head about what happened with him and Lily growing up. Not just that but his school and home life and what happened from his perspective while Harry was in school. It helps that it will also be fanfic fodder.

I really liked that this poll separated Severus from the Marauders. I often choose the Marauders Era in other polls because there is no option for Severus by himself. I know choosing anything with the Marauders will also give me a snippet of insight on Severus.

I think if they're going to choose an actor it should be one of those boys that played Severus the first time around in the movies. If they're too old then a new character would work too.

I chose:

  1. Always: Severus Snape, because I want a Snape centric series from his perspective on all the events, from pre Marauders era to his death.
  2. Hogwarts Founders, I'd love to see the era of Founders, how they met and founded Hogwarts.
  3. Dumbledore: The Origins, DH got me curious about backstory of Albus Dumbledore and although we have a rough outline, would love to see a whole story of Dumbledore from childhood to the headmaster/leader of Order we all know.
  4. HP: The Cursed Child, controversial opinion but I think it could be better than play and script if they expand and explain things and remove non-canon complaint parts, because I loved some of the characters like AlSev, Scorpius and alter! Snape and would love if series makers can salvage the series. Kudos, if they make it into a wholesome Next Generation series for more content in slice of life format.

Edit: Moved it in Harry Potter Polls sub-forum because it's a poll rather than discussion and edited title to replace Discussion with Poll.

I agree with JaySm and chose both "Severus Snape" and "The Marauders" for the same reasons. I mostly want to know EVERYTHING from Snape's POV, but he's usually mixed together with the Marauders, so it is nice to see him on his own in this poll.

However, despite it all, the Marauders are sadly also an important part of his life (in the fact that they cause him more hurt and misery and I feel were a factor in not only losing his friendship with Lily, but also his journey to the dark), so that's why I felt to include them too.

I forgot which one I voted for. 🤔 I was going to answer why, but I guess I got sidetrack. 😁

The Marauders-
I know I voted no for this. I have read so much fanfiction and my imagination has created so many  great scenarios that I probably wouldn't like what HBO did. It would be The Star Wars prequels all over again.
The House of Black
This might be interesting, but it would probably be very dark. I don't care about watching dark series. I can do movies, because I am not investing that much time in them.
Voldemort - I think this would also get very dark. I also think I learned enough about him in the books. I do think how he met Nagini would be interesting if she was still able to be in her human form.
Hogwarts Founders-
I haven't thought about these characters. So I would be interested. I wouldn't be waiting for Severus to make an appearance.
Always: Severus Snape-
Same answer as The Marauders.  We probably would get writers who haven't done a deep dive of the character. I honestly would hate to see what they come up with. Granted I do think that they will eventually do a movie or a series about this era. I probably won't be alive when it happens. I'm not saying that because it will take a long time to happen. I'm just old. Tick tok, tick tok.
Hagrid's Magical Creatures-
This would make a great children's series. Maybe even animated.
Minerva-
I wouldn't mind a short series or a movie, but I don't think that I would want to watch a whole series. I think it would drag and then all these new characters would be added and all these story lines.
Quidditch Amongst the Ages-
😴
It was hard enough for me to read about it, or watch it in the movies. I don't think I would even tune. Okay maybe if it was a comedy. I'm thinking Caddyshack. A Niffler can play the part of the gofer.
Dumbledore:
I don't need it. I have the Fantastic Beast series. I don't need more.
Hp: The Cursed Child
I think I voted for this, because I know it will probably be made into a movie. And the series. I don't find the Potter kids interesting. Maybe a children's animated series with cute happy stories. Then there could be cute happy stories about the older characters when they were children, such as, Severus and Lily, The Dumbldores, Regulus and Sirius and more.
SNL had a skit about what they thought HBO would do with the HP series. It has Finn Wolfhard playing Harry. Many of us think he would make a great young Snape.

OMG, the SNL skit! I would legitimately rather watch that than the actual show.

I don't think HBO (or any other major studio) is ever going to do the franchise (and particularly Snape) justice, but I also don't think it matters. Just as the fans have created the stories we want through fanfiction and fanart, we are swiftly reaching the point where any of these stories can (and will) be adapted into video. I don't know how old you are, NAME, but I'm not talking about the distant future. So much of this is right around the corner, probably more than most people realize.

Personally? I can't wait!

Yeah,@heatherlly , But for me,HBO series is when  I am actually interested on how there is added scene that is written in the book but not make it to the screen. The 5 potions scene,Black Flame,Norwergian rideback. I would skip anything about snape in HBO. Snape for me is always be as sallow skin, not the one I see in movie

I'm thinking within the next ten years we might get a new series about the Marauders time period. Obviously it is just a guess. But then again I am wondering why it hasn't been sooner. Maybe JKR doesn't want certain characters touched.

I don't plan on watching the new series in real time and that is mostly because I just don't want to pay for another streaming service. I might not even watch it at all. I've only seen the HP movies a few times and I just take what I want for my headcanon. I rather listen to the books. And that is just me. I know some people love the movies.

But SNL also did a skit with a comedian being the new Snape. Maybe you have seen it, but I will post it for others that haven't.  He brings up some of the issues that can happen because of the race swap.
