NaNoWriMo 2024: The Official Thread

Page 1 of 2Next

It's that time of year again! 🙂

NaNoWriMo (short for National Novel Writing Month) is a global writing challenge that takes place every November. The goal is to write at least 50,000 words (roughly the length of a short novel) in a single month (November 1-30).

NaNoWriMo can be used to work on a new project, make progress on an existing story, or you can even work on multiple projects. Whatever you choose, NaNoWriMo is a wonderful opportunity to challenge yourself as a writer.

If you're a writer (or would like to become one), I do hope you'll participate this year. NaNoWriMo is always a rewarding experience, but it's even better (and more fun!) as a group activity. 🙂

If you have any questions or need help getting started, feel free to post in this thread. Thanks! 💚

I have been running around like a headless chicken recently. I was writing one story, but I stalled because there's a bit I need to rewrite/revamp, and that will take much longer. Another story is in a state of total chaos. Scenes on scraps of paper and in OpenOffice. I need to organise everything in one place. Another two are supposed to be in German, so we're looking at 100 words a day if I include those in NaNo, LOL. Another one is stalled because I didn't finish adding in some more details inspired by a crime fiction book I was reading (J.K. Rowling's to be precise!). I have two originals in development stage, so no go there.

SOOOOOO....

I always have my nonfiction, hee hee! I write nonfiction very fast. I am AWFUL at being organised with fiction.

Either way, got plenty of time for speeding to 50 000 words within, er, seven days. I think I am over 27 000 at the moment. I've once finished NaNo in one day by writing 15000+ words, but I'm not doing that this year, LOL.

Good luck to everyone else who is writing!
