Sexuality in the Wizarding World

Page 1 of 2Next

This is a place to discuss magic as it pertains to sexuality, a subject that (for obvious reasons) wasn't covered in canon. Feel free to post your questions, theories, and speculation – the more NSFW, the better! 😉

I'll kick things off with something I've always wondered about…

POLYJUICE

This is ostensibly a full body transformation, which would include private areas like breasts and genitalia. Would this also include nerve endings/sensation? Or is it just a really effective glamour, one that only affects outward appearance?

Either possibility is intriguing in its own ways. Also a bit disturbing as it relates to canon use of Polyjuice. 😂

I believe it also recreates the nerve sensations. The potion taker ingests potion with the target's DNA which temporarily rewrites the body with the body characteristics of other person. Barty Crouch Jr lost eye, facial features and leg while he was transformed as Moody and Harry's eyesight got corrected as Goyle.

So yeah, it should include nerve sensations too.

I'm going off of the films for how Polyjuice works, but correct me with the books if there's a discrepancy:

  • It changes your appearance, but not your voice, meaning it's not a full transformation.
  • It's not meant for animal transformations, such as when Hermione became a furry.
  • It can copy a person's appearance despite some features being unnatural, such as Moody's missing eye and leg.

On the one hand, I would think that, if it takes unnatural features into account, then it must be an extremely precise potion. On the other hand, because it doesn't alter one's vocal chords, it may only be superficial. I'm on the fence about this.

The voice thing was a movie only thing, so it doesn't apply. I have the quote from CoS describing that scene.

‘Are you two OK?’ Goyle’s low rasp of a voice issued from his mouth.
‘Yeah,’ came the deep grunt of Crabbe from his right.

Poly juice was made for human consumption for human's impersonation so it should reject animal DNA that's why it didn't work well for Hermione.

So yeah, it is a precise transforming potion which alters other completely including vocal cords requiring rare ingredients and lot of preparation time and deserves it's NEWT level classification.

Do you think Knockturn Alley has a polyjuice brothel?

It might be possible, but considering the rarity of potion ingredients and high skill requirement for potion, the services might be very expensive. A metamorphmagus employed in brothels would be way cheaper.

Metamorphmagi are even more rare than polyjuice, although would be much more effective.

Speaking of which, regarding the point on polyjuice's effects on the body, a metamorphmagus's body would undergo those changes, and then some. According to the wiki, a metamorphmagus is capable of assuming any form, including male or female (or both simultaneously, if one was inclined). I suspect that a metamorphmagus, whose physiology is very fluid, would be capable of either fathering or mothering children, depending on what form they choose to take.

Yeah, that should be possible, though they should be gay or bisexual for going through that sort of thing. Metamorphmagus don't have a time limit unlike polyjuice so they can even assume an entirely different identity. A bi metamorphmagus would be having time of their lives shifting through forms.

Good points about the Polyjuice. Book canon seems heavily slanted to it being a total transformation with the exception of the person's brain and soul.

That would be interesting in context with sex work/brothels, albeit unethical, sort of like a magical version of deep fake porn. I never really thought about that, though I've always been fascinated by the idea of using it to spice up a couple's sex life. Basically, each takes Polyjuice to become the other so they can see what sex feels like from the other's perspective.

I'd love to write a scenario like that involving Severus and Lily. Not only would it be hot, but I can see it being hilarious. Severus would be the more reluctant of the two, at least at first, though I can see Lily (disguised as Severus) getting super into it. 😂

Lily: Sev, what's wrong?
Snape: I don't think the potions work the way we thought.
Lily: Don't be ridiculous, of course they do!
Snape (angrily holds up pregnancy strip): Then how am I pregnant?!
