Snape Headcanons
The most common thing I've heard is that Snape has Roman roots (probably due to his name). If we wanted to combine the two theories of Eastern European and Roman, Romania would be a decent guess (as the Romanian language is a Romance language with Slavic exposure, and some of its former lands once belonged to Rome via Dacia).

The Roman one would make sense for why Eileen or rather Rowling chose such a rare name.
I was thinking of Romania because I have known some whose appearance does remind me of Snape especially the complexion and eye and hair color. I also remembered something I read while doing research on Bram Stoker's "Dracula" that it expressed Britain's fear of Eastern European immigrants flooding England towards the end of the 19th century. That would work out if Eileen's family was among those immigrants.
If Eileen herself was born in Romania, it's possible her birth name was Elena (a Romanian name), and that it was changed to Eileen when she was young. And if "Prince" was also changed, then her maiden name might have either been "Princeps" (of Latin origin) or "Prințaru/Prințanu" ("prince", of Romanian origin).

That's exactly why I love this idea so much.
When I first read the books I was 100% sure that Snape was meant to be a vampire but Rowling simply changed her mind last minute.
Being compared to a bat, residing in the dungeons where he is far, far away from the sunlight, his hatred of werewolves, the reason why he wears high collared shirts...
I was so sure that Snape was a vampire that I almost felt disappointment for him not being one. Searching to read fics with Vampire! Snape that we deserved. 😹😹
I've a headcanon that Snape looks out for bullied Slytherin kids while patroling the halls and dishes out harsh detentions and docks more points against aggregors particularly those belonging to Gryffindor house.
