I just always noticed these red flags with James (at least they were things screaming red flags to me in the books), so I had to explore it in this fic.
I thought it perfect to post a new chapter on Lily's birthday today, so here it is!

Chapter 14: Borage

Today was a day she had been dreading. Lily didn’t want to wake up to the realization she had turned thirty-six years old. Even with all the happy cards and well wishes, it was a day she had been continuing to avoid acknowledging ever since waking from her coma.
However, this year was proving to be different. On her way to meet Severus in the classroom and help him grade papers, he had surprised her by handing her a present.
She should have expected it, having given him his own birthday present three weeks ago. It was their old tradition after all, and it was something she warmly accepted back into her life.
Pulling apart the wrapping, she glanced at the book titled: The Language of Flowers. A warm smile lighted her face, skimming through the book to see it detailed all the flowers and their meanings. However, there was a note stuck between a certain page, one that told the meanings behind the Lily flower. She glanced at the small note that read: Happy Birthday , before looking to see what the symbolic meaning of this page was.
Lily symbolizes: Purity, Unconditional Love, Devotion, Fertility and Rebirth.
She blinked, scanning over the words, trying not to think too much on what Severus’ meaning would be. It was clearly in light of her being named after the flower. After all, she had told him of her mother’s fondness in naming both her daughters after different flowers. But yet, she couldn’t deny the meaning here rang true for herself…
If anything, this was another thoughtful gift from him, along with the Healer books.

Chapter 15: Cyclamen

Her eyes dared to look into Dumbledore’s, hoping he could read her mind loud and clear. “Tell me the truth and everything you know about the Prophecy and who told you it.”
His eyes had gone serious. “I think you already have an idea on who told me it. On a cold, wet night sixteen years ago, in a room above the bar at the Hog’s Head Inn, I had gone there to see an applicant for the post of Divination teacher, though it was against my inclination to allow the subject of Divination to continue at all. The applicant, however, was the great-great-granddaughter of a very famous, very gifted Seer, and I thought it common politeness to meet her. I was disappointed. It seemed to me that she had not a trace of the gift herself. I told her, courteously I hope, that I did not think she would be suitable for the post. I turned to leave.”
Lily watched as Dumbledore moved from his desk, bringing out the familiar silver basin that was his Pensieve, bringing it back to the desk and raising his wand to his temple, pulling a memory forth.
The figure of Trewlawney came forth, However, when she spoke, it was not her usual voice. “ THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD APPROACHES… BORN TO THOSE WHO HAVE THRICE DEFIED HIM, BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES… AND THE DARK LORD WILL MARK HIM AS HIS EQUAL, BUT HE WILL HAVE POWER THE DARK LORD KNOWS NOT… AND EITHER MUST DIE AT THE HAND OF THE OTHER FOR NEITHER CAN LIVE WHILE THE OTHER SURVIVES…THE ONE WITH THE POWER TO VANQUISH THE DARK LORD WILL BE BORN AS THE SEVENTH MONTH DIES…”
She blinked, trying to process what she had just heard. It was all stuff she had heard before from Dumbledore when he came to warn them about Voldemort thinking it referred to Harry instead of the Longbottoms, but it still didn’t answer the one question that was still eating away at her…
“If Voldemort was after this Prophecy, that means he doesn’t know it in full, right?”
Dumbledore nodded. “He was only told the details I originally told you myself that day I sent you into hiding…”
“And how did he find out about it?”
The headmaster looked at her calmly. “How do you think he found out about it?”
Lily shrugged. It wasn’t as if Voldemort could predict a Prophecy was about to be told of his demise. Dumbledore clearly didn’t expect to be told it either. It just… happened . So it could only mean one thing.
“Someone must have overheard it when Trelawney was telling it to you. A Death Eater, to be precise.” She eyed him carefully now. “Do you know who it was?”
Dumbledore suddenly cleared his throat. “Yes, but that is their story to tell. All I know is that they only heard the first part of the Prophecy, the part foretelling the birth of a boy in July to parents who have thrice defied Voldemort.”

Hey everyone! I'm back from my hiatus/writer's block fest. I don't feel so great about this chapter and it's honestly why I've been paused on this story for awhile, but I've decided to post it because I felt it was important to the story anyway. So here it is.

Chapter 16: Lotus

Today was the day. She had decided. Today she would be venturing to Godric’s Hollow.
Greeting Molly in the kitchen with a cup of coffee, Lily had packed the things she would need, telling her she had to run a quick errand and would be back later, asking if she could keep an eye on Harry. Of course Molly happily accepted, but thankfully didn’t ask any other questions like— what is the mystery errand?
It was best Lily did this by herself without anyone else knowing. Even if she wanted to tell Severus about it, it was best she did this alone. The last thing she wanted was getting someone else hurt or killed.
Walking out of the Burrow and down the street some distance, she made sure no one else was watching before putting on the invisibility cloak she had grabbed from Harry’s stuff and then apparated away.

The last chapter is great! Lily puts an end to the past and moves towards the future (she also mentions Severus, which is a good sign). I'm waiting for the next part!
