Yes. I can see this. But I believe that Dumbledore was like a general making a lot of decisions others wouldn't like and believe that he was doing the right thing for the greater good. I think we can discuss how some of his choices were questionable and to what extent do we think he was "good".
JKR said "He's deeply flawed. But to me, he is an exemplar of goodness. He did wrong. He learnt. He grew wise.” I got this quote by Googling it, because I remembered it and if I got it wrong please correct me.
Do you think he was the "exemplar of goodness"? I think he was a manipulator. I don't hate Dumbledore and I think his character is interesting and not perfect. But I can't see him why the Quilin (from Fantastic Beasts) bowed down to him, because he was pure of heart. I can't see anyone his age as pure of heart.
I guess answers like this from the author is why I don't see her interviews, tweets, questions and question and answer sessions as canon. I am not saying you can't but I don't. I think some of the answers are before all the books were out and she had not written them, so the answers could have changed or mean something slightly different. I also think she was aware that she was mostly answering children's questions. I do believe that the majority of readers , watchers and listeners of the Harry Potter series don't dive as deep as us. I know I didn't with The Wizard of Oz, but I am glad someone did or we wouldn't have gotten the musical Wicked. Here I am rambling.
