I have a question

So I'm having an argument with someone who hates Snape and he's telling me that Severus wasn't useful in the war. I'm going to tell him that he gave the sword to Harry and that he took care of the students as much as he could while he was headmaster. I also want to tell them that he warning about the escape from Azkaban but I don't remember if that is true. So my question is, did Snape warn about the breakout from Azkaban? What other plans did he know about and tell them to the order?

Do you mean the breakout during Order of the Phoenix?

It's not confirmed if Snape told Dumbledore about that; as far as I know, he only passed on the information Harry gave him in Umbridge's office after Umbridge had caught Harry and his friends, which was how the Order showed up at the Department of Mysteries.

I'd be fascinated to know how this person you're arguing with defines the word "useful".
