If I have to choose only one then of course I have to say his death, although there are many things I would like to change in his life ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
But the main one is that he survives the war and can have his longed-for happy ending 💚

Quote from Namesakesnake on June 29, 2023, 6:36 amRight before the battle starts, I would have him do more to find Harry and convince him. He had the last key they needed to end the war. Why didn't he try harder when he knew Harry was right there under the invisibility cloak or at the very least that McGonagall knew where he was? There were so many better and smoother things he could have said to convince them. Maybe even cast his patronus to convince them. He must have known it was nearing the end and that it wouldn't matter much longer if he continued playing the spy or not. Why didn't he give it his all?
He might not have died then, or if he had at least it would have served some kind of purpose and had some kind of meaning.
His death in canon was SO pointless. If Harry hadn't happened to be there and to decided to go see him as he died then he would have failed.

Quote from Krystal on June 29, 2023, 6:59 amIf I could change one singular event in his life, it would be how the Werewolf prank was handled.
The plot goes similar to my favourite Marauder Era Snily, where Severus ends up blurting out the truth about the Whomping Willow Incident, seeing Lily defending his tormentors which leads to Lily going to Dumbledore to demand justice for Severus. I am not going to spoil the plot, let's just say it ends up changing Severus's life for the better and ends up in a happy ending for Sev.

Quote from Naaga on June 29, 2023, 12:07 pmI agree with @namesakesnake and @giosnape that Snape didn't need die and I would change for him to survive. I prefer Post-War fics so Snape getting his HEA after war seems like the best ending for Snape.

Quote from Dark Angel on June 30, 2023, 3:00 amSnape would go through the day with a mantra of:
"Murdering him isn't worth a life sentence in Azkaban"
But The Gestalt Prince has done us a favor and already answered the question. I had a good laugh at this.
Grading was tedious, to the degree that Severus almost regretted becoming a professor. Currently, the only student who actually impressed him with her work was Mary. Of course, he was also subjected to the absolute mediocrity that comprised the rest of his students, particularly when it came to Gilderoy Lockhart; he'd caught him trying to plagiarize from Potionmaking for Dunderheads, which was quite possibly the single most stupid thing he'd ever witnessed. The only reason he hadn't asked for Lockhart's expulsion was the fit of laughter he'd succumbed to while pointing out how stupid Lockhart was, to Lockhart's face, no less. That had been a highlight of his day.

Quote from Naaga on June 30, 2023, 3:03 amI actually wonder how the hell Lockhart managed to join Snape's NEWT classes, a question I think Snape would be asking himself everyday in canon teaching days. 😹😹

Being a professor also takes a lot of patience (I speak from personal experience 😂). I think in those moments Severus brought out all his unlimited patience or else he would have committed murder.

(Sorry, playing catch up as I am currently away this week, but these questions were too good not to pass)
I am inclined to say Harry and/or Draco.
Harry - for their relatability. Because let's be real, they had a lot in common in terms of their pre-Hogwarts upbringing. I think they would have had potential in that way to find that kinship in one other in the familiarity of what the other has gone through. Harry might be one to reach out to him first since he has a little more optimism than Severus would have, and Harry did have that connection when he read his notes in HBP, finding him a very interesting and intelligent person. Not to mention Harry does have some of Lily's traits (excluding the idea of Severus ever knowing Lily or James), so he would have found a further friendship with those more positive qualities that may have drawn him.
And Draco - As a Slytherin brotherhood, I think he'd naturally gravitate towards someone with a strong social standing. Draco didn't seem to have any close friends, so I think he would have found a great friend in Severus. Severus may have even mellowed out Draco's arrogant and pretentious behavior, but Draco feels like a mix of Avery/Mulciber, if we are to draw parallels here.
Luna might be one of those students he would barely openly tolerate, but secretly find her intriguing. Perhaps even lightly befriending her when he realises she is as much of an oddball outcast as he was.

To have him survive Nagini, fight alongside Harry in the final battle <3
Severus deserved a second chance at a life without acting as Dumbledore's and Voldemort's puppet - he deserves a chance of finally being free from those restraints that darkened his life.
He deserves a chance to be happy and make a proper life for himself however he chooses <3
