Snape Headcanons

She was intimately touching Snape in the Spinners End chapter and Snape seemed far more comfortable with her than most people and even treated her quite gently. My first thought after reading that chapter first time was Yup, these two are definitely fucking. 😹😹
Honestly, I kinda agree LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if they ever did it when Lucius was in Azkaban...
Yeah, perfect time window for having some fun. 😸
And not even out of romance, really, but even just out of need in a very difficult time.
I mean, it was even described that Narcissa was easily able to navigate her way to Severus' place, implying she had been there often enough, and I highly doubt Lucius would ever be caught dead in a place like that.
So when she did, this implies she had visited him alone multiple times.
I completely agree.

Quote from Heatherlly on June 8, 2023, 8:29 amI can understand why people would read more into that scene, but I've never seen it that way at all. My reasons:
- While yes, Severus seems reasonably comfortable with Narcissa touching him, this isn't necessarily unusual behavior. I say that because we have no basis for comparison... other than this one scene, we only see him interact with people like students and colleagues, those with whom he has more formal relationships. Notable exceptions are Dumbledore, Slughorn, and Draco, and in all three of those cases, he doesn't seem hesitant to touch those people or allow them to touch him.
- Assuming you believe that Severus is a heterosexual man (which is canon), it's natural that Severus would be more receptive to a woman's touch, even just in a platonic sense. In other words, while it could have been more than that, what happened in that scene isn't nearly enough to prove that there was anything sexual going on.
- Regardless of how you feel about Severus's reactions, Narcissa's behavior certainly isn't motivated by sexual attraction. She was distraught and terrified for the life of her son... clinging to Severus and begging for his help makes perfect sense in that context.
- It's also worth noting that Severus had a part to play. We can't know how much of his warmth toward Narcissa (and the Malfoys in general) was genuine and how much was part of the act. Simply put, it was beneficial for him to have a good relationship with them and would have been suspicious if he didn't.
- On that last point... the way Severus behaved in the Spinner's End scene is exactly how he would have been expected to behave. While I personally believe that it was at least partly sincere, it was also his only option, especially with a highly suspicious witness looking on (not to mention Wormtail, who was no doubt still eavesdropping).
- Finally... while it's absolutely possible that Severus was attracted to Narcissa, I think it's extremely unlikely that they were ever involved. Severus was way too cautious for that, especially toward the end of the series. I just can't see him risking an unnecessary and potentially damaging feud when there was so much on the line.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with reading more into that scene. The seeds are definitely there if you choose to look at it that way, and hell, I'm all in favor of Severus getting a little more action. I'm just saying that canonically speaking, I personally don't see it.

Quote from Naaga on June 8, 2023, 10:23 amI understand @heatherlly, now that you've explained, it's more likely the case.
This headcanon formed in my first reading so I wasn't reading into deeper sense when I first read it. Your interpretation sounds fair and reasonable.
I'll still headcanon that relationship because I like pretending Snape got some action. 😸

Not gonna lie when I first read that chapter I was sure Rowling was drunk when she wrote it. There's so much sexual tension between the two and I was just thinking about how it's so out of place for a children's book. I can't even point anything out that's particularly inappropriate but there's so much between the lines when you read it when you're a little older and not exactly a child.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who interpreted it that way. 😸

Quote from Naaga on June 20, 2023, 12:11 amThere is a theory which I read in some fics is that the Hogwarts librarian Irma Pince is actually his mother Eileen Prince.
Possible explanation: Irma Pince is anagram for I am Prince.
Why she is disguised?: It is theorised that Snape got Eileen away from his father and got her a job under Dumbledore to make her financially independent and being able to keep an eye on her.

Yeah, I've heard of that theory. It's definitely an interesting one. I wonder if JKR realised how similar the two characters were?

Quote from Naaga on June 20, 2023, 2:04 amPossibly, there were several plots left unresolved till last book of Harry Potter. This Irma Pince one doesn't directly impact Harry anyway so there was no point in elaborating it. Perhaps, we can get one explanation from Wizarding World post canon works someday.

Quote from SanctuaryAngel on June 20, 2023, 2:45 amWe definitely need more information on the Snapes. Or even the Prince family.
I mean Prince as a surname is pretty awesome. They sound like such an important family.
