"What if ... ?" scenarios

PreviousPage 6 of 8Next

This ends my creativity because I'm not a writer. I hope someone runs through this scenario with a lot of details and give Snape a happy ending. 😸

Meh...happy endings are boring. I like Snape because his life is so fucked up.

Btw, I don't think Slytherin per se is responsible for Snape turning into  a Death Eater but there he was exposed to this mentality and he mixed with the wrong crowd.

Obviously, there's no guarantee that he would be safe in another house. Luna was a Ravenclaw but still a victim of bullying but unlike Snape, it didn't get to her but she at least had a loving father (albeit crazy). Snape has no support network and the closest he's come to sth like that were the Death Eaters.

What if Eileen had decided to leave Tobias and return to her parents?

Would the Princes welcome their daughter back and what would they think of their half-blood grandson Severus?

How would his friendship with Lily be affected? Would they still become friends? And what effect would the Princes  have on Severus  joining the Death Eaters?

I'm running this scenario with few assumptions because we don't know anything about Princes in canon:

  • They aren't listed in Sacred 28 so I'd assume they are not blood purists but still one can hate muggles and let's assume them Wizard supremacists, like they bought Grindelwald ideology.
  • They aren't kind and doting people but also not complete assholes.
  • Eileen took Severus during his early years i.e 4-8 yrs of age when he started his accidental magic, Tobias had a bad episode, he decided screw him, oblivated Tobias and took Severus to Princes.
  • Princes aren't super rich but they're not poor either. They have good estate, sizable assets and few businesses.
  • Early escape means Snape never met Lily.
  • Eileen is last of her parents child and technically heiress.
  • Eileen and Severus renounced Snape name, took Prince name and Severus becomes new heir because Eileen had dishonored her house.

Obviously not meeting Lily means they never become friends and it'd stay that way because a Gryffindor and Slytherin won't cross paths to become friends.

Severus would be raised on Wizarding Supremacy ideals. He'd be expected to marry a pure-blood or half-blood (pure-blood preferably) as soon as his graduation, may end up betrothed.

He'd be sorted into Slytherin, having no connection to Lily thus no James coming after him due to sexual jealousy.

He'd face a temptation to join Voldemort but having no bullying, good family and no need to impress Lily, he'd remain neutral in the conflict.

He won't join DEs or Order. He would become either a Potioneer or just handle family business like heirs are expected. He would marry a pure-blood after graduation and would've a kid to preserve Prince line asap.

Voldemort would win the war and Princes might end up taking cause of Voldemort only to prevent being targeted. Potters and Longbottoms are dead.

Severus in disagreement with Voldemort's methods, switches sides and actually ends up playing spy again. He'd be closer to Regulus and saves his life and figures out Horcrux secret. Gradually Severus overcomes his wizard supremacist ideology.

Regulus becomes double agent and Snape a traitorous spy, both eventually instrumental in taking down Voldemort. Regulus and Severus figure out Peter's identity as mole in the Order.

Regulus dies after getting caught, Severus destroys all Horcruxes and Dumbledore defeats Voldemort thus ending the war.

Severus drops his son Caesar Regulus Prince to the King's Cross, ending the series with epilogue.

That sounds great @naaga! Now I want to read this...also... I love how you killed off Regulus and kept your favorite character alive🤣 I'm also curious about Sev's pureblood wife. 😲

I imagine the Princes as rather unpleasant because Eileen is described as sullen even as a school girl. I assume they are of the ridiculously strict sort who demand complete obedience from their offspring. I don't see any reason why Eileen would have chosen to stay in a miserable marriage if returning to her parents was a viable option so either they were dead or they're worse than Tobias. Given that we don't see a very warm interaction between Severus and Eileen at King's Cross, I never considered her a particularly loving mother. Given that she doesn't seem to have a pleasant aura even at school, I assume she's gotten her less than bubbly personality from her family.

I also dont imagine them as poor but also not too rich either but Severus would grow up with everything he needs...except a healthy dose of love. I imagine his grandparents being very critical of him and even more strict than they were with Eileen to make sure that their bastard grandson doesn't embarrass then any further.

I would like to think that Severus and Lily do meet on the train but things don't go well as Severus would talk down to her after he finds out she's a muggleborn. Lily dislikes him just as much as she did canon James and leaves him after being offended. It would be fun though if they somehow ended up together during potions where they would have to work together despite hating each other. I would like to think that despite their initial dislike, each would come to be impressed by the other's intelligence and capability and maybe that would later turn into reluctant respect and even later, something more? Kind of a reverse to canon, Lily befriends James and the Marauders but later realizes that he's too immature for her and her relationship goes from enemies to friends to lovers with Severus. (That's a Snily I would approve of). It would be even more fun of the two had a secret relationship with each other.

I think that the Princes would be open to join Voldemort because they're not part of the sacred 28. I imagine that other purebloods would look down on them (this would be especially true if they did have an immigrant background) and they would try to climb up the social ladder with Voldemort's rule. If Severus does join, it would be in hope of finally getting his family's approval and respect, though he would quickly come to regret it especially after Voldemort becomes a threat to Lily. If combined with their secret relationship, the prophesied child may be Severus' but everyone assumes that it belongs to James. The rest kind of goes according to canon with Severus seeking out Dumbledore. If Severus and Regulus are close friends, I expect Regulus to tell Snape about the locket and they work together to retrieve it from the cave. Dumbeldore helps in locating and destroying the rest and maybe Voldemort is defeated before the events of Halloween 1981 take place.

This is such an amazing idea! I do especially like this part:

This part I simply love! Would be amazing to read it!
I would offer to write it myself but with all my ideas that might be a bit problematic to schedule 😀

@bolstark you do have enough on your plate already but maybe in the future when some of your writing projects are done?

So as just announced on the discord here are my ten seconds of craziness, it will be very few words but I'm already excited for your answers!

What if... Severus Snape is Godric Gryffindor reborn?

That would definitely be an AU Universe. Could also be that Godric does awake inside of him later on, while he is at Hogwarts as example.

I would say the little boy who said he'd rather be brainy than brawny will not be happy.

Severus will have an existential crisis. How did a Slytherin end up being the reincarnation of Godric Gryffindor of all people.

The thought of the internal talk between him and Godric makes me already laugh 😀

Now that I think of it... maybe that is why Severus is so sensitive to being called a coward.

Godric keeps telling him he's a coward whenever Snape tries to use his cunning than brute force and recklessly throwing himself into dangerous situations.
