Ridiculous Fan Theories
Quote from Naaga on March 10, 2023, 12:45 pmI had heard many ridiculous fan theories before the Deathly Hallows so did many of you. Share those theories here.
I start with : Dumbledore was actually a time traveller Ron Weasley.
P.S - Changing this to ridiculous theories both before and after the series because many readers have read the series after the Deathly Hallows.

Quote from Heatherlly on March 11, 2023, 2:11 amI didn't read the series until 2012, so I missed out on all the speculation leading up to each book. Would definitely love to hear more of them – I'm sure there were some wild ones!

Theory: Dursleys mistreated the Harry due to influence of the horcrux inside him otherwise they won't have mistreated him.

Quote from Krystal on March 12, 2023, 11:23 pmThat Lily was pregnant when she died, and they were going to make Snape the child's godfather.
There's no indication that Lily and Snape had reconciled in any way prior to Lily's death, let alone reconciled so fully that Lily/James would consider making him their child's godfather and that Snape himself would agree to be the godfather of James Potter's child.

To be fair, this one isn't entirely ridiculous. Yeah, it ignores the fact that the Dursleys were clearly biased against magic before the Horcrux was ever created, but Horcruxes are also extremely powerful, evil magical objects. We saw that in the way the locket affected Ron… it would make sense for other Horcruxes to have a similar influence on others who had negative feelings toward Harry and/or other characters.

In a WBWL story that I have read, they went with this theory. The horcrux reacts in such a way that every muggle either disliked or loathed Harry. Dursleys reconciled with Potters and thus, entrusted with care of Harry but due to horcrux ended up treating him like canon and sometimes even worse.

Quote from Naaga on March 13, 2023, 8:24 amHas anyone heard that ridiculous fanon theory often used in Weasley bashing fics where Ginny slips Harry love potions to make him fall for her on the instruction of Molly Weasley who is after Harry's money?

Quote from Heatherlly on March 13, 2023, 10:32 amNo, though I have mixed feelings about it based on what you said here. On one hand, I don't like Molly Weasley. She comes off as a busybody, and I've never forgiven her for the way she treated Hermione in Goblet of Fire and Fleur later on. I'm also not crazy about the Harry/Ginny relationship, largely due to the lack of foundation, so yeah…
On the other hand, portraying people as golddiggers just because they're poor is gross, and I feel like that has to be a factor in a theory like this. I'd also point out that none of the Weasleys ever asked Harry for money, even though he would've given it to them in a heartbeat.
Based on the latter two points, I'd have to reject the theory. While there are plausible reasons to paint the Weasleys in a negative light (if one chooses to go that route), I just don't think attempting to steal Harry's money is one of them.

This, Weasleys never asked for a single penny from Harry and Harry respected them too much to offer them money directly. I also felt your observation regarding the Harry/Ginny pairing in the books and felt that it was JKR's attempt at Jily like pairing (Harry looked like his father and Ginny looked like his mother).
I usually try to stay away from bashing fics except for marauders bashing especially James bashing (I love it).
