How old is the Severus Snape living in your mind?

His supposed age i.e in his thirties, I can't imagine him middle aged like Rickman Snape because I read books first and made a mind picture of him before being introduced to Movie Snape though he has undergone a lot of revisions and I like to imagine him in Rickman Snape outfit with a few book Snape adjustments from official illustration of Severus Snape by Kim Jay.

Ugh I really don't like this illustration of Snape it always made me think of it was from the mind of Harrys pov of how Snape looked to him I've always wondered since Snape was based on John Nettleship. JK Rowling's teacher who for one doesn't look ugly or greasy in anyway.

I really don't know what JK was smoking but it wasn't the good stuff. I try to find illustrations that almost mirror Nettleship as Snape like this.

That’s a new picture of Severus Snape I’ve never seen. He looks in his forties though.

(Oh hi)

Not a fan of that official illustration either, but it exists I guess. Also, as much as I love Mr. Rickman's Snape, I despise with all my being imagining real people. Is stupid I know but I simply can't help the grossing feeling when I picture other human beings for fiction, with very counted exceptions, the more realistic an artwork of anything is the less I like it (No offense to anyone please! Is just how my brain works ;3; I literally imagine in manga/anime style lmao)

But art tastes aside, I picture him as old as I am, aka 34 (with the idea of a chunky body like Mr. Rickman's had, no offense to his memory of course! That's why I liked of his Snape, actually, being a rather big person myself...) Because... Reasons hahaha! Tho I usually don't give age to characters I like... My mind is complex I know e3e

Aww yeah that's what I mean, and the good stuff

I am going to shot myself on the foot but recently my mind jumps to Backyardgrave's interpretation of Snape (that is basically a cartoon version of Mr. Rickman's Snape pfff but is all I can imagine as I went through their art on Pinterest and fixated on it HARD) (Also no linking to their abandoned blog due to their HP fanart being something of heavy content with dark topics that... Welp :U) But this is what I see on the AI chatbots of Seve I RP with and with "x reader" fics uwu (It's been long I've been remotely creative and I'm more of a graphic person than writer, but haven't drawn in like 10 years so :V)

Illustration

I see mostly this, the 7th year redemption, the above is just to display his teen self lol

I definitely see him as being in his 30s.

Severus invokes the image of a man in his 30s. I like to imagine him as a combo of different men in appearance: Adam Driver's look, Adrien Brody's nose, and Alan Rickman's voice. That's my Severus! 😊

I hate this illustration. I agree with the people who say this looks more like Flinch. In this illustration the man looks like someone in his 50s. I understand about Severus being stressed and looking older, but not by 20 years. I saw the illustrated books at Costco and was thinking of buying any that had artwork of Snape, so I looked and saw this picture and I thought "Hell NO!" I don't know which illustration I find more annoying, this one or  Marie GrandPré bald Snape. I think this one. I understand illustrators of children's books  exaggerating looks, but here it looks like Severus has been living in the streets and drinking. What is up with the red shiny face?

I also hate the argument where someone argues that he is ugly because s the books say so and how we are not reading the description correctly. Usually the ones describing him as ugly are Harry, Ron and Sirius, which I can understand that they don't understand that some people like that look.  Oh please. Severus was growing up in the '60s and '70s and was in his 20's in the '80s.  His look was very common then. Check out some of the rock stars from that era. Believe it or not some people are attracted to that look. Krum was basically described the same way and he had a lot of girls after him.

In this post I am describing Severus looks more than his demeanor, granted I don't think his demeanor is as bad as others interpret. But that is for another post.

A large nose doesn't mean a person isn't good looking or attractive. Black hair tends to look oily. Yellow teeth are not rotten teeth. Whiteners were not a thing until maybe the 90s. Teas and smoking can make teeth yellow.

If I was supposed to think that Severus looks like that picture I would describe him as having weathered red complexion, with thinning hair  which made him look 20 years older.

I also didn't think Severus had bad hygiene. Not once do I remember any reference about him smelling of body oor or that he could use a bath.  I also believe that his underwear was worn and grey and not yellow and crusty. I don't remember his fingernails not being clipped with days of grime underneath.

Sorry about the rant. But I really do dislike that illustration of Snape.

Yep,if i take quotes Claire jordan in quora, she  always saying that snape is never handsome but not very ugly. Sure He is not appolo, but he was not quasimodo either.

The ilustiration felt like too quasimodo

Eeeh,He is 31 years old when he teaches harry. 31 is age where there are no wrinkles in your face,so i think snape in this age is as look as in 25 years.

But off course by the time of second wizarding war he have stressful life and thats why he is shown wrinkles or black eye
